we planned to go to island creek oyster bar last night, but it was an hour wait so we decided to check out eastern standard kitchen next door instead. i was not prepared to try a new restaurant, so i didnt bring my camera with me. i documented our meal with an iphone. here’s some food pictures. sorry for low quality pictures 🙁
started with duvel beer and Weingut St. Urbans-Hof Nik Weis Urban Riesling, one of my fave riesling at all times.
duvel is a little stronger than most beers.
jonah crab salad – leek remoulade, lobster gelee
chilled english pea soup – smoked ham hock, rye crouton, chopped farm egg
thats me taking pictures with an iphone. lol

jumbo shirmp cocktail – meat was a little too stiff and not super fresh
Roasted Bone Marrow
hazelnut gremolata, sea salt
glazed pig tails – watermelon, fresh chili, cucumber & herb salad
oysters werent the freshest, but passable.
chicken schnitzel – warm potato salad, caraway, pickled beets – chicken was a little too dry
roasted skate wing – caper brown butter, braised spinach, fried bread
Grilled Flat Iron Steak – red wine sauce, herb butter, fries
tomato, fennel, white wine – a little sandy
food at eastern standard kitchen was mediocre. a few dishes were not well executed and underwhelming. seafood wasnt the freshest but passable. although dinner was not too memorable, the service was excellent. extremely friendly and helpful.
