HIGHLIGHTS:
– Lunch @ Stratosfare Restaurant
– the Head of Lake Wakatipu

We flew from auckland to Queenstown in the morning. we rented a car in queenstown. my friend that works for hertz got me a pretty good discount.

after picking up our car, we drove directly to skyline gondola. this was my 1st time driving on the left side of the road. it felt super weird at the beginning, but we were adjusted after a day or two.

i reserved lunch at Stratosfare Queenstown Restaurant that is located at Bob’s Peak. regular Gondola & Lunch is $60 per adult, but i booked the Premium Gondola & Lunch which guarantees a window seat. they also offer dinner as well at $85 and $105 for window seats. i suggest to book in advance if you do plan to go because the premium lunch was sold out for some the original dates that i was gonna book for. http://www.skyline.co.nz/queenstown/restaurant/

the lunch was buffet and comes with a free alcoholic drink. food was very average, but everyone is here for the scenery not the food.

after lunch, we drove to our hotel to check in. we stayed at Rees Hotel and Luxury Apartments which was on Lake Wakatipu and a few mins drive from downtown queenstown. the hotel and lake view was def nice, but i recommend Villa del Lago more which we stayed couple days later.

view from our balcony:

after checked into the hotel, we decided to take a drive to Glenorchy. we stopped at a few lookout points along the way.

the road was super narrow and we were afraid it’s getting dark soon, so our last stop was the Head of Lake Wakatipu before we turned around and headed back to queenstown.
the head of lake Wakatipu was beautiful with baby blue water.
