– Whitewater rafting @ Shotover River

we got some breakfast at Bespoke Kitchen – 9 Isle Street, Queenstown 9300, New Zealand

pulled lamb with pumpkin hummus, shaved carrots, crispy quinoa, goat cheese, sesame dressing

I booked shotover jet and whitewater rafting with Queenstown Rafting http://www.queenstownrafting.co.nz/

We were waiting for the tour to start, so we were walking around town center to kill some time.

Patagonia Chocolates – 50 Beach Street, Queenstown 9300, New Zealand

the ice cream was ok.. a little bit too sweet.

a bus took us from the town center to shotover river.

Shotover jet is the only jet boat that goes through shotover river canyons. it does 360° and the ride was only 20 mins. it was a good ride, but a little bit disappointing especially for the money. it wasn’t as exciting as the reviews i read on tripadvisor.

after shotover jet, we did whitewater rafting on shotover river. the river grade ranges from 3 to 5. i think we hit some 5 at some point and you also raft through a 170m Oxenbridge Tunnel. make sure you bring bug repellent, some bug bit my hands when we were rafting and my hands were itchy for weeks afterwards!!!!

the trip begins with a ride into skippers canyon. the road was crazy dangerous but famous for it’s exciting cliff edges and gold mining history, i dont think anyone can or should drive on it by themselves.

the staff of queenstown rafting were true professionals, the whole trip was very intense but i felt super safe. this was the best thing i did new zealand; highly recommended!! it was my mom’s 1st time whitewater rafting and she loved it as well.

after whitewater rafting, we got back to town center. checked out this super cute tea shop, T2 tea shop http://www.t2tea.com/

went to famous ferburger @ 42 Shotover St, Queenstown and got a lamb burger which was pretty tasty.

for dinner, we went to pedro’s house of lamb and got a whole bakes lamb shoulder for take out (they only do takeout i believe). the lamb was not bad, but wasn’t super amazing.

more lake view in our room

bubble bath to wind down. all of the hotels we stayed in new zealand all had massage tubs.
