– Lake Tekapo, Lake Pukaki, Villa del Lago

we checked out from Bluestone On George in Dunedin and were on our way to Lake Tekapo. Lake Tekapo was definitely beautiful. after checking out the lake, we wanted to get some food. there were not many restaurants in the area and some of them already stopped serving lunch so we just grabbed a quick bite at Mackenzies Cafe Bar Grill on the lake. the food was ok, nothing special. i wanted to check out astro cafe which is a cafe at a summit and over looking Lake Tekapo, but we did not have time.

after lunch, we drove to Lake Pukaki which was only 20-30 mins away and was on the way to lake wanaka. Lake Pukaki was really beautiful with super baby blue water and a lot of less touristy than Lake Tekapo. i would def recommend checking it out if you are already in the area.

after Lake Pukaki, we got back on the road and drove to lake wanaka. after seeing Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki, lake wanaka was nothing special, so we didnt stop for long.

after lake wanaka, we drove back to Queenstown to stay for the night and fly out the 2nd morning. the road was super scenic from arrowtown to queenstown.

we stayed at Villa del Lago which was down the street from Rees Hotel and Luxury Apartments and also on Lake Wakatipu. we got there around 8pm which was past their checkin time. we were able to get our keys from a lockbox. i suggest to call ahead if you are planning to arrive late. they left very detailed instructions in our villa. we had to check out very early in the morning as well to catch our flight, so they just told us to leave the keys in our room.

the lake view of Lake Wakatipu was beautiful and the villa had a living room, a dining area, a full kitchen, and a separate bedroom. i def recommend Villa del Lago over Rees Hotel and Luxury Apartments! we really enjoyed our one night stay at Villa del Lago. the only down side was they didnt have a jetted tub.
